Biomechanics

Biomechanics

‘the mechanical workings of a biological system’

The body is a series of pulleys and levers, with the muscles being the pulleys and the bones the levers. Sometimes when these are not in balance problems occur.

Here at Footprints Healthcare we have spent over 8 years looking into the biomechanics of the human body and the problems associated with any abnormalities of the musculoskeletal system.

We specialise in the treatment of a whole range of problems including:

Back & Hip Pain
Plantar Fasciitis (Heel Pain)
Knee Pain
Foot & Leg Pain including Shin Splints, Achilles Tendonitis, Metatarsalgia.
Toe Problems including Bunions, Hallux Limitus (pain in the 1st toe).

We tell all our clients, the foot is the first and last point of contact with the ground when you are running or walking, so for example if you have a pain in your back it will affect the way your foot functions. If you have a pain in your big toe such as Hallux Limitus (loss of total range of movement in the great toe due to arthritic changes.) it can be directly linked to lower back pain.

Because the motion of the human body is complex it takes time to assess and quantify the problem a client may be experiencing. This is why at Footprints Healthcare we use technology in the form of video gait analysis and the advanced Footscan system by RSscan, to assess your treatment requirements.
